Pit Bull Awareness Day is Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Burlington County Animal Shelter is inviting residents to learn the facts about pit bulls on Pit Bull Awareness Day Saturday, Oct. 24, from noon to 3 p.m.

The event will feature costume contests for pit bulls (and their humans) with winners announced at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., a dog-toy-making station, music, Halloween candy, information about the breed, the hugely popular Kiss-A-Bull kissing booth and play groups of frolicking shelter pit bulls available for adoption.

From Oct. 24 to Nov. 1, adoption fees will be waived for anyone who submits an application to adopt a pit bull.
