Burlington County Approves Sale Of Solar Energy Credits
The county anticipates $50,000 in the sale of SRECs this year, according to the Burlington County Times.

The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders has approved the sale of its Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs), the Burlington County Times reports.
SRECs are produced each time a certified and registered solar facility produces 1,000 kilowatts of electricity. Every 1,000 kilowatts of electricity is worth one SREC.
So far this year, the county has produced 5,450 megawatt hours of energy, and last year, it produced 5,563 megawatt hours, according to deckmonitoring.com.

Burlington County made about $300,000 in SREC sales last year, according to the report. It budgeted for $50,000 this year. It budgeted conservatively based on solar market supply and demand.
The county began selling SRECs last year, and says it is more economically feasible to sell them annually, as opposed to as they are received.
