Burlington County Clerk To Perform Free Weddings Dec. 21
The free wedding ceremonies will be at Historic Smithville Mansion in Eastampton.

It’s the time of year for giving, and Burlington County is giving the gift of love. Clerk Tim Tyler will officiate wedding ceremonies for county residents for free at Historic Smithville Mansion in Eastampton on Thursday, Dec. 21, officials announced on Wednesday. Ceremonies will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Tyler regularly performs wedding ceremonies for Burlington County residents and persons posted to local military facilities. Clerk Tyler has performed over 2,250 ceremonies since taking office in 2009.
“It is my pleasure to once again offer couples the unique opportunity to exchange vows at the Historic Smithville Mansion,” Tyler said. “Our holiday wedding ceremonies have been extremely popular over the years. I always look forward to providing this service to couples and their families during this joyous time of the year.”

Couples interested in participating in this event should contact the Clerk’s office at 609-265-5142 to ensure an appointment is available. The couple will need to obtain a marriage license from the town in which either of the parties resides. It takes 72 hours to obtain the license.
“This opportunity would not be possible without the continued support and encouragement of the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the County Division of Parks, Friends of Smithville Mansion and Eastampton Township,” Tyler said. “There are a limited number of appointments available, so interested couples should contact the Clerk’s Office as soon as possible to schedule their ceremony.”

The Smithville Mansion is one of the few remaining “intact” Victorian Industrial-era villages in the region. In 1975, the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders purchased the mansion and property. Smithville is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places.
