Burlington County Farmers Market Devastated after Fire
A fire ripped through a historic South Jersey farmers market.

A four alarm blaze tore through the Columbus Farmers Market in Burlington County this afternoon, destroying the building.
The fire started shortly before 2 p.m. and quickly escalated to four alarms. The historic farmers market sits along Route 206 and Columbus Jobstown Road and is a staple in the community. Smoke could be seen billowing from a red barn, which is a retail area of the market, and led to road closures as wind swept the smoke onto Route 206.
The market wasn’t opened at the time of the fire and there has not been any reported injuries, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. The blaze appears to have started in the main building at the farmers market and took firefighters nearly two hours to control, NBC10 reports.

The market is open Thursday through Sunday and was even planning on opening on Thanksgiving Day for those looking to buy their Thanksgiving meals, according to NBC10. The market has been devastated by fire twice before, in 1968 and 1972, according to the farmers market’s website. The market sits on 200 acres and includes indoor pavilion stores, an all-weather outdoor flea market, a self-storage facility and antique mall.
