Burlington County Man Charged In Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor

The shooting took place in November.

A 22-year-old man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a Burlington City man that took place in November, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Burlington City Police Chief Alan R. Snow said on Wednesday.

Darius Bridges, 27, of Beverly, was served with a warrant for murder in the first degree on Tuesday at the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, where he had been lodged on unrelated charges.

Police say Bridges fired several shots near the intersection of East Federal and York streets in Burlington City on Friday night, Nov. 26.

Howard G. Young, Jr., 22, whose address of record is Burlington Township, was struck by one of those bullets while he stood outside on the 100 block of East Federal Street, police said.

He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy determined the manner of death to be homicide and the cause to be a gunshot to the back.

Under New Jersey’s bail law reform, which took effect January 1, 2017, defendants can be held without bail until their case is adjudicated if approved by the court.

The Prosecutor’s Office said it will prepare the case for presentation to a Burlington County Grand Jury, where it will be considered for indictment.
