Burlington County Man Charged With Murder in Gloucester Township Woman's Death

A Burlington County man has been charged in the murder of a Gloucester Township woman whose body was discovered in Evesham Township Friday morning, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle announced Friday evening.

Miguel Angel Diaz, 30, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 59-year-old Susan D. Johnson.

Diaz, whose last known address is Mount Laurel, is accused of beating Johnson fatally following an argument over money in her home on Dec. 5. Diaz and a woman, previously identified as persons of interest in the case, had been staying with Johnson.

Diaz allegedly transported Johnson’s body to a wooded area near Willow Ridge Park in Evesham Township.

The witness provided information that led police the location of Johnson’s body.

A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of Johnson’s death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

After receiving a report that she was missing, Gloucester Township Police visited her home for a well-being check.

Officers found signs of a struggle inside the home.

Diaz is scheduled to be arraigned 11 a.m. Monday before Superior Court Judge Edward McBride.
