Burlington County Man Fired Gun During Fight in Matawan, Prosecutor Alleges
A Rowan University student was charged Tuesday with shooting in the vicinity of large crowd.

An 18-year-old Rowan University student was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with firing a gun towards a crowd during a fight on Park Avenue in Matawan earlier this year.
Christopher Solomon, 18, a Pemberton Township resident and a student at Rowan University in Glassboro, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Solomon is connected to an incident on March 1 of this year in Matawan. At about 7:45 p.m. that day, Matawan borough police responded to 27 Park Avenue to a report of a large fight with shots fired. Upon arrival, patrol units found everyone had fled the area.
Although no one was struck by the gunfire, evidence was discovered at the scene confirming a shooting occurred. Solomon is charged with firing the gun.

He was arrested Tuesday morning by detectives with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Matawan Police Department, along with assistance from the Glassboro and Rowan University police departments.
