Burlington County Man Sentenced for Running His Brother Over With a Car: Prosecutor
Lyle Person admitted that he hit his brother with a car following an argument at a relative's house in March of 2014.

A Willingboro man who killed his brother by intentionally running him over with a car in March of 2014 was sentenced to 22 years in New Jersey state prison, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi announced.
Lyle G. Person, 35, previously pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter. He could’ve served up to 26 years, but “the court exercised its discretion,” Bernardi said.
He admitted that he ran down his brother, 31-year-old Lee Person, on Beverly-Rancocas Road in Willingboro on March 14, 2014 following an argument at a relative’s home.

Lee Person was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he died five days later. An autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian hood concluded the manner of death was homicide from multiple injuries due to being struck by a motor vehicle.
After running over his brother, Lyle Person sped away and attempted to hide the vehicle, a 2001 BMW wagon, Bernardi said.

He had been in Burlington County Jail since his arrest, and must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Person “tearfully apologized” for the incident before his sentencing, Bernardi said.
The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Willingboro Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit and Major Crimes Unit.
