South Jersey Man Stole $1 Million Worth Of Items: Police

The items were stolen in 50 robberies in three Pennsylvania counties between 2017 and 2018.

A Burlington County man is one of two men who have been arrested and charged in 50 burglaries in three Pennsylvania counties, authorities announced.

Leroy Boose, 57, of Willingboro, New Jersey, and Anthony McDaniels, 50, of Philadelphia, stand accused of stealing more than $1 million worth of items between 2017 and 2018.

Authorities found more than 1,000 stolen items in Boose and McDaniels homes, as well as storage facilities they rented, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

Stolen items included jewelry, electronics, antiques, clocks, musical instruments, taxidermy, artwork and G.I. Joe collectibles, according to the DA's Office.

The pair were arrested on Feb. 10 during an attempted burglary at a Lower Merion Township home, according to the DA's Office. The arrests followed a lengthy, multi-jurisdictional investigation into 38 burglaries in Montgomery County, six in Delaware County, and six in Philadelphia, the DA's office said.

The burglaries all followed a common modus operandi, authorities said. They occurred between dusk and midnight, and they broke into the homes using various methods. They typically broke into homes that were close to each other on the same night.

Homes without lights on or without a car in the driveway were targeted. In most cases, bedrooms were ransacked, with jewelry taken and a homeowner’s own pillow case used to carry the stolen items, according to authorities.

Investigators drew parallels with a string of burglaries from 2010, which led law enforcement to Boose and McDaniels.

They are charged with multiple felony counts of burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night, and related charges.

Boose is charged in connection with 40 burglaries and two attempted burglaries. McDaniels is charged in connection with 45 burglaries and two attempted burglaries.

They were arraigned on Friday. Boose is being held on $3 million cash bail, and McDaniels is being held on $2.75 million cash bail, according to the DA's office, which said it will prosecute all 50 burglaries.

Police recovered many of the stolen items. Anyone who has been the victim of a burglary or recognizes any of the items pictured should contact Lower Merion Police Officer Dwight Kondravyat at DKondravy@lowermerion.org or (610) 645-6234. Photos of recovered items are available to review in the online database here and some are featured below.

“We believe these individuals may have been involved in additional burglaries, and sharing the photos of the stolen items—from jewelry to taxidermy—is not only the right thing to do to help victims recover their property, but it also could help us locate additional burglaries tied to the defendants,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said.

Those who contact Office Kondravyat should be ready to provide the specific number listed in the body of the photo, a brief description of the item, and the image name on the website.

Anyone outside of Lower Merion Township who was a burglary victim and is looking to recover their items must provide the name of the police department that investigated the incident.

The investigation was led by Abington Township, Lower Merion Township and Cheltenham Township Police departments.
