Burlington County Woman Who Grew Up In World War II Becomes U.S. Citizen

Eva Priestly was 7 years old when World War II began.

A Burlington County woman who grew up in Germany during World War II is now an American citizen, nj.com reports.

Eva Priestly, 84, was 7 years old when the war began, and wrote about her life in the book, “A Girl Named Eva.”

She married her late husband in Berlin, and they moved to the United States in 1954. She has lived in Mount Laurel ever since, according to the report.

She was one of 27 people who became a legal citizen on Monday. To acquire a certificate of naturalization as she did, a person must have had a permanent address in America for five years, or be married to a U.S. citizen for three years.
