CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson Township's planning board gave preliminary and final site plan approval on May 24 to developers who intend to build a Chick-fil-A restaurant, according to Township Administrator Eric Schubiger.

The Chick-fil-A will be located on U.S. Route 130 next to The Shoppes at Cinnaminson, restaurant representatives said at the planning board meeting.

It will offer customers drive-thru service, pickup service and outdoor seating but no indoor seating, Chick-fil-A representatives added.

Chick-fil-A's approval to build was contingent upon a number of conditions, Schubiger and members of the planning board said.

Owners and operators of the Cinnaminson Chick-fil-A site must do the following.

  • Use only three outdoor lights (a fourth outdoor light may disrupt those who live near the restaurant).
  • Take precautions to ensure the three outdoor lights do not spill onto neighboring properties.
  • Allow trash pickup to occur only during hours that would be least disruptive to nearby residents' sleep.
  • Mark the pavement to clearly identify delivery-only areas and fire department access.
  • Provide additional protections in the outdoor seating area.

It may be some time before Chick-fil-A groundbreaking, according to Schubiger.

"The next steps include completion of conforming plans, New Jersey Department of Transportation approval, fire official approval and the posting of all required bonds and
guarantees," he said.

The planning board's May 24 approval also allowed for a second building, a retail establishment, to be built near the Chick-fil-A, according to Schubiger.

The business that will occupy the second site has not been determined yet, Chick-fil-A representatives said at the May 24 meeting.
