Cinnaminson 7th Grade Basketball Team Advances to South Jersey Final
The Pirates saw some last-second heroics to defeat Cherry Hill in the semifinals.

Despite holding a double-digit lead for most of the contest, the Cinnaminson boys’ 7th grade travel basketball team found itself down by two points with 14 seconds left in a semifinal game of the South Jersey Basketball League A-division championship game on Saturday.
A key three-point shot gave the team its final lead en route to the final it fought so hard to get to.
Christian Gee drilled a 3-point shot to help Cinnaminson to a 52-49 win over Cherry Hill. The Pirates then stopped Cherry Hill on their next possession and Aiden Nesemeier made two clutch free throws to seal the deal with 4 seconds remaining.

Cinnaminson will play an undefeated Winslow team for the 7th grade A-division championship on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Cherokee High School’s North Gym.
Eric Sabato led the way in the semifinal with 17 points. Jake Wilmer, Aiden Nesemeier and Eric Gallagher each had strong performances with 11, 10, and 9 points, respectively. These three big men also outmuscled a taller Cherry Hill team by each grabbing 8, 9, and 11 rebounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinal round, Cinnaminson defeated a tough Mt Laurel team by a score of 52-50. Sabato led the Pirates once again to a hard fought victory by scoring 18 points.
The March 8 final pits Winslow, who captured this group’s A-division championship during the League’s past two seasons and Cinnaminson who was undefeated last season and seized the League’s B-division championship last season.
Other team members contributing to Cinnaminson’s success thus far are: Danny Campbell, Lucas Burns, Justin Yansick, Aleks Czjaka, Joe Turankcus, Anthony Amendolia, and Justyn Caccese.
Cinnaminson has won four of its last five games.
