Cinnaminson Economic Development Committee Back in Business

Ten locals will help with targeting businesses to town.

The township’s newly revitalized economic development committee can help target new businesses that may want to make their homes in town, Cinnaminson’s deputy mayor said this week.

At Monday’s township meeting, Anthony Minniti, also the director of economic development, appointed 10 Cinnaminson business officials to an ad hoc committee that will discuss ideas about the town’s business sector.

“We work very hard to revive the business-friendly reputation approach in town,” Minniti said, “and I don’t think we want to rest on our laurels.”

Minniti said these professionals can “tap their resources” to try to attract businesses to come here instead of neighboring towns.

“We’re in competition with other towns,” Minniti said.

Dan Caldwell, of Stout & Caldwell Engineers, a business that has been in town for eight years, is the chairman of the group.

Caldwell said it’s “really important” to have a committee like this.

“We all have different views, different perspectives,” he said of the committee members. “We can work hand in hand. We can help the next person.”

The group will decide on meeting dates and times and bring their ideas back to township committee members. Caldwell said personally, he’d like to see more professional use.

“Maybe we can focus on our Main Street a bit,” Caldwell.

Main Street, in this case, is Riverton Road. Caldwell said since it’s part of the river route, it can be an attractive location for new businesses.

Mayor Don Brauckmann said he’d like the committee to work on the redevelopment of properties in the township’s industrial section.

“Redevelopment means jobs, economic growth, local shopping opportunities, and ratables which helps keep property tax rates stable for residents,” Brauckmann said.

Minniti added that this committee could help Cinnaminson be “ahead of the curve” and be the preferred location along the Route 130 corridor.

Caldwell agrees.

“We just want to make it easier for people to come in and make the town look great,” Caldwell said.

The economic development committee will consist of: Cardwell, Harriet Summers (Feinberg & McBurney Commercial Realtors), Rob DeMalo (EMSL Analytical), Rick Cureton (Whitesell Industries), John McCarthy (), Gino DiBatista (Dacon Construction), Mike Kearney (), Robert Fumo (), Mike Minton (), and Kevin Stone ().
