SophomoreJeff Singer’s effort on the mound in 2013 made him the first pitcher to be named DIII Player of the Year since fellow Gloucester County hurler Ryan Costello took the award in 2000. Singer’s stellar performance on the mound this year anchored the Roadrunners national championship campaign.

Among DIII pitchers that started at least four games this season, Singer’s 0.68 ERA was the best in the nation. The lefty led the DIII ranks with 104 strikeouts, while giving up only 18 walks in 93 innings pitched. Singer had the second best record in DIII, going 10-1 in his 11 starts.

At the NJCAA DIII Baseball World Series, Singer got the Roadrunners off to a quick start with a victory in the tournament opener. Facing Century (Minn.), Singer held opposing hitters to just one hit in seven innings while recording nine strikeouts.

After being named a first team All-American, Singer signed with Monmouth to join the Hawks entering their first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
