Cinnaminson Election Results 2015: Full Local Results

Poor voter turnout rivaled that of 2011.

Low voter turnout was the calling card of this year’s election, particularly in Burlington County.

Many polling locations in the county reported under 30 percent participation in this year’s elections, according to the Burlington County Times. The county hit a decade low of 29 percent in 2011.

Interest was particularly low in Cinnaminson, where Mayor John McCarthy and Committee Member Don Brauckmann, both Republicans, ran unopposed in this year’s general election.

McCarthy earned 1,618 votes and Brauckmann drew 1,593 votes in a town with a voter registration of 11,631, according to numbers provided by Cinnaminson Clerk Pam McCartney Tuesday night.

Likewise, the Board of Education election was uncontested, as Christine Turner ran unopposed in the special election for the Cinnaminson School Board seat she was appointed to fill earlier this year. She drew 1,768 votes.

Board Vice President James McGuckin and Board Members Laura Fitzwater and Dolores Woodington all ran unopposed in their re-election bids for three full-term seats.

McGuckin and Woodington each had 1,661 votes. Fitzwater had 1,617 votes.

Low turnout may ultimately play a factor in the Burlington County Freeholder race, where Republicans Ryan Peters and Kate Gibbs edged Democratic incumbents Aimee Belgard and Joanne Schwartz, according to unofficial results posted on the county’s website late Tuesday night.

Gibbs earned 27,812 votes, and Peters won 27,707 votes. Belgard won 26,565 votes and Schwartz won 26,180 votes.
