Cinnaminson Football Team Handles Toughest Test Yet to Move to 3-0

The Cinnaminson High School football team survived its stiffest challenge of the young season to date with a 35-28 win over Bordentown Friday night, according to nj.com.

After winning its first two games by scores of 55-0 and 41-0, respectively, the Pirates needed a fourth-quarter score to move to 3-0.

That score came from Aaron Elly, who broke a 28-28 tie with an 8-yard run. It was his second score of the night.

Cinnaminson looked like it was in for another early night when it scored the first three touchdowns of the game.

Nick Thevanayagam opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He then threw a 15-yard pass to Shaun Davilla for the second score, in the first.

Elly’s first score, a 9-yard run in the second, put Cinnaminson up 21-0.

Bordentown put the brakes on Cinnaminson’s momentum with three straight touchdowns to tie the game at 21-21.

Thevanayagam’s 9-yard touchdown run was met by a Bordentown response and the score remained tied, at 28-28, after three.
