Cinnaminson High School Varsity Field Hockey Wins 2017 BCSL Patriot Division

PEMBERTON, NJ — With a 6–1 victory over Pemberton, the Cinnaminson High School field hockey team (12–1, 9–1 in league) has clinched no worse than a tie for BCSL Patriot Division title for the first time since 2004. It is the first title for head coach Gina Quaranta. The Pirates were led by four more goals by junior Maura Tumelty, who now has 28 goals on the season.

The Pirates all season have had one of the best goal differentials in the state. Behind Tumelty’s finishing ability and a defense led by senior Hope Addlesburger, senior goalkeeper Grace Burns and three sophomores Natalie Cooney, Abby McDonald, and Grace LePage the Pirates have only given up eight goals through 13 games for goals against average of .62 a game. The Pirates as a team have given up just 44 shots the entire season.

This year’s Pirates team’s domination is additionally keyed by the strong play of midfielders; sophomore Alexis Ochman, junior Emily Rooney, and senior Serafina Kennedy (9 goals, 9 assists). With an attack unit that also includes juniors Marissa Porrini, Carley Barnes, and Senior Roxanne Wesley in addition to the Tumelty as mentioned earlier, the Pirates have had nine different players score and eight different players credited with assists.

With five regular season games left to play in the 2017 season, the Pirates have already scored 14 more goals than last season. With the production that they have received this Pirates team expects to go deep into the state tournament.
