CINNAMINSON, NJ — Here's a look at some upcoming events at the Cinnaminson Library for the week of Jan. 6-10, 2020. Each event's description comes from the library's website. Click the name of each event for more information.

Monday, Jan. 6
Free Health Screenings, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: On the first Monday of each month, a registered nurse from Lourdes Health System will be in the meeting room (or in an alternate location in the library during February, March and April) to provide FREE health screenings and dispense health and wellness information. Walk-ins welcome!

Cursive Class, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Have you ever wanted to sign your name in a fancy script? Read older documents (like the Declaration of Independence)? Write messages to your friends that other people can't read? It's time to learn cursive writing! Come in and learn cursive lettering and practice in fun ways at the library with Miss Kristie. Best for ages 7 and up.

The Happy Bookers, 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.: The Happy Bookers meet on the first Monday of alternating months from 7-8 pm. The book for January will be Vinegar Hill by Manette Ansay New members are always welcome.

Tuesday, Jan. 7
Tai Chi, 10:30 a.m. to noon: This is a beginner’s course in Qigong and Tai Chi, slow, gentle forms of exercise that help increase energy, flexibility, balance and body awareness. Those who suffer from bad posture, stiff joints, tension and instability should find the course especially helpful. No special equipment or attire required other than loose-fitting clothing and soft, flat-bottom shoes. This program is for adults only.

Creative Writing Workshop, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Welcome to a workshop where writers write. Through writing exercises, games, timed writing, and discussions with peers, we can find joy and satisfaction in creative writing. Bring your laptops. This program is for adults.

Wednesday, Jan. 8
Baby and Toddler Time, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: It’s time to shake, rattle, and roll! Babies and toddlers are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and dance along at Baby and Toddler Time.

Scrabble Club, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Do you love a good game of Scrabble? Look no further. You have found kindred spirits with the new Scrabble Club forming at the Cinnaminson Library. Players of all levels and all ages are welcome to drop in, and we hope, stick around. It's stimulating, educational and most of all, lots of fun!

Laughter Yoga, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Laughter Yoga is a whole body, well-being workout that uses intentional laughter, breathing, mindfulness, and gentle movement to promote a healthy, joyful and vibrant life. It's uplifting, energizing and fun! There are no yoga poses involved. The yoga aspect is the deep breathing and mindfulness that we include. The program is wonderful for friendly connection, stress relief and can also help ease anxiety & mild depression, while also being a form of exercise. We do not use jokes or comedy and you do not need to be flexible or funny. You can even participate in a chair. Please bring water and a willingness to be playful and have fun! Thursday, Jan. 9
TEEN Helping Hands Service Hour, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Do you need community service hours? Don't wait until summer to cram them all in! Pop into the library on Jan 9th at 4pm to help the librarian with several projects. Registration is not required. By law you must be between the ages of 13 to 18 to be a teen volunteer.

Friday, Jan. 10
Parachute Play, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Pop into the library for some fun play with the parachute. Dress comfortably for 35 minutes of fun songs and movement! Recommended for ages 5 and under. Registration is not required.

The Writer's Clinic, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
If you need help with writing tasks like:

  • Resumes
  • Cover Letters
  • Filling out Forms (except for legal, financial and tax documents)
  • Writing Projects (i.e. toasts, speeches, reports, essays, etc.)
  • College Papers
  • Letters
