Cinnaminson Man Spent 34 Days On Ventilator Battling Coronavirus
Leroy New was discharged from Inspira in Mullica Hill on Tuesday after 46 days in ICU, 34 of which he was on a ventilator.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — After 46 days battling the coronavirus in the intensive care unit at Inspira hospital in Mullica Hill, a Cinnaminson man is getting out of the hospital.
Leroy New, 75, was greeted by family members and medical staff as he was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, according to the health system.
New had spent 34 of the previous 46 days on a ventilator as he battled not just the coronavirus, but also the flu and bacterial pneumonia. He battled through, and will now continue his fight at a rehab facility.

“His care has been a great example of how Inspira is able to execute its mission statement with comprehensive and compassionate care,” his stepson M. Scott Dawson, MD, said. “My mom, Leroy’s wife of over 40 years, and I are indebted to Inspira and all of its amazing staff members for saving his life.”

Dawson was joined in welcoming his stepfather by New’s wife, Carsey, and his daughter-in-law, Candice Krueger. Krueger is also the ICU clinical outcomes manager. Nurse Kelly McWilliams also greeted New, who was also given a clap-out farewell by more than 30 Inspira employees. (See video below).
He also received encouragement on social media, as friends and family encouraged New to “keep fighting.”

As of Wednesday, 89 Cinnaminson residents had tested positive for the coronavirus, and there were seven fatalities. As of Wednesday, there were 3,678 cases of coronavirus in Burlington County, with 221 deaths.
