Cinnaminson Police Remind Residents to Clear Streets, Don't Plow or Shovel Own Snow Onto Streets This Weekend

Cinnaminson, NJ -- Cinnaminson Police are reminding residents to park their cars off street to allow the Department of Public Works plows to do their job ahead of a potential blizzard that is expected to hit New Jersey this weekend.

Police also remind residents it is illegal for any person, firm or corporation, the owner, tenant or occupant of any premises abutting on any street to throw, blow or plow any snow or ice into township streets.

Residents are also reminded to keep their sidewalks clear for pedestrians, and to store away or tie down items in their yards that may be able to take flight in preparation for a storm that may drop between a foot and 16 inches of snow on the region, according to the latest projections from the National Weather Service.

Residents should also check on elderly neighbors and relatives.

Strong gusty winds may lead to power outages, so Cinnaminson Police advise residents to prepare for that possibility now.

Additionally, Burlington County and local emergency services are using a new emergency notification system.

Swift 911 is web-based, affording county officials with the ability to message from any location, at any time of the day or night. As long as there is access to a telephone or computer with Internet access, the public can be notified no matter how extreme the emergency.

Additionally, residents have the ability to OPT-IN via text, by texting 99538 to SWIFT911.

Rowan College at Burlington County will close on Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24 because of large amount of snow forecast for the region.

All weekend classes and activities have been cancelled.

The South Jersey Interscholastic Swimming Association high school coaches invitational meets scheduled for Gloucester Tech on Saturday have been postponed to next Saturday, Jan. 30, according to nj.com.

Division A will still swim at 10 a.m., followed by Division B at 4 p.m.
