Cinnaminson QB Honored at Brooks-Irvine Club Luncheon

Nick Thevanayagam was honored with a Scholar Athlete Award on Monday.

Cinnaminson High School senior Nick Thevanayagam was honored as a Player of the Week on Monday.

The quarterback was one of those honored at the Brooks Irvine Memorial Football Club’s Group 2/1/Parochial Day.

He, his family and Cinnaminson coach Mario Patrizi were invited to the club’s luncheon at Crowne Plaza Hotel on Route 70 in Cherry Hill.

At the luncheon, Thevanayagam received a Scholar Athlete Award. To qualify for the award, a student must have B grade or better, “be a good citizen and a good player.”

Thevanayagam came to Cinnaminson as a running back who never played a down of high school football. He beat out two seniors for the quarterback position when he transferred to Cinnaminson as a sophomore.

He has helped guide the Pirates to a 5-1 record this season.

The Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club is a non-profit, state authorized group established in 1945 in memory of former Camden High School Athletic Director Phillips R. Brooks.

The Club’s goal is to promote sportsmanship and team play, improve relations between coaches and officials and to bring together football enthusiasts by means of luncheons for open football discussions.
