CINNAMINSON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Cinnaminson Township resident who lives behind The Shoppes At Cinnaminson told Patch that the shopping center’s parking lot has become more than just a place to leave one’s car while shopping at one of its stores.

“They come to the location — anywhere from 50 to 100 cars — blast the music, pump up their engines and annoy ... neighbors with no regard to the time of night or any police presence,” Renee Shaw, one of the residents who said she is affected by the noises, said in an interview.

“They stay until the cops come and either sit watching the police cars feeling no intimidation whatsoever from them or in some cases, they are chased away,” she continued.

Most of the cars have Pennsylvania plates, Shaw alleged, and claimed that the incidents seem to occur approximately every 3 Saturday nights.

Cinnaminson’s Police Chief Richard Calabrese told Patch the department received a couple of complaints about the noises and will look into the residents’ concerns.

“I ordered extra units to patrol that area during the day and time period the callers indicated this occurs,” he said in an interview.

There are township ordinances, state laws and motor vehicle violations “that are relevant to this type of complaint but the specifics on charges would be based on the individual incident,” according to Calabrese.

While the investigation into the reported noises continues, he encouraged residents who have complaints like Shaw’s to fill let the police department by filling out the Reporting Crimes to Cinnaminson Police Department form available from its website or by clicking this link.

The police department “takes all quality-of-life complaints very seriously,” Calabrese said. “We are committed to providing the highest quality of public safety to our residents, businesses and visitors in a professional, expedient manner while displaying honesty, dedication, integrity and wisdom.”
