CINNAMINSON, NJ — The Cinnaminson Public School District Board of Education will hold a special training session for racial literacy for members on Sept. 1, 7 p.m., according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stephen Cappello.

The training session was announced on Tuesday, and an agenda will be posted ahead of the meeting, as Cappello said he anticipates action being taken. It is for the district leadership, and is not a public meeting.

Many districts have been working on more racially diverse curriculum after protests across the country followed the death of George Floyd in a police-involved incident in Minnesota.

“During this time of unrest, it is normal to experience various emotions from anger to sadness,” Cappello said at the time. “In order to promote a culture of mutual respect in our schools, we must work together to teach our children the importance of compassion and respect for everyone.”
