The district has received 29 applications for the open spot, the Cinnaminson Sun reports.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The Cinnaminson Public School District has received 29 applications during its search for a new superintendent, the Cinnaminson Sun reports. Interviews were still scheduled to take place in April, with a new superintendent in place by July 1. Cinnaminson Board of Education President Jean Cohen called the number of applications received by the district “a true reflection of the district’s excellence.”

The new superintendent will take over for the retiring Salvatore Illuzzi. Illuzzi announced his retirement during the Dec. 20 Board of Education meeting.

He was originally going to retire in 2014, but decided to stick around another few years to help with renovations in the school district. His retirement is effective June 30, 2017. He spent 33 of his 48 years as a superintendent.
