Cinnaminson Soccer Players Compete In National Tournament

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Two Cinnaminson Middle School students who are entering eighth grade competed for a national championship in soccer this summer.

Will Frasso and Aidan Quinn-Wright were part of a team that won the New Jersey State Cup earlier this year. The two midfielders and their teammates on REAL Jersey FC out of Medford advanced to the 2018 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships in Virginia.

They won their first three games in the tournament. They beat a team from Pennsylvania, 3-0, before overcoming a Virginia team by the same score the following day. They then downed a team from West Virginia, 3-1.

They narrowly lost a semi-final matchup, 2-1. They were able to secure third place, receiving bronze medals and their team qualified for the 2018-2019 US National League.

The team has boys from all across South Jersey, including Millville, Pleasantville, Cherry Hill, Medford, Voorhees and Berlin. Stockton University head soccer coach Greg Ruttler coaches the team.

Real Jersey Futbol Club is an academy level premier youth soccer club and the only Philadelphia Union YDA club based in New Jersey.

They trained for the tournament several days a week since last summer. In addition to competing all over the state, they have traveled with their families to Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Virginia to compete in the APL, ERL and EDP leagues and tournaments.

Frasso and Quinn-Wright will both play for the middle school soccer team in the fall. They both also received awards at Cinnaminson Middle School's Academic Awards night in May for maintaining academic honors this year.
