Students, Staff Square Off In Cinnaminson In Name Of Fun, Fundraising
The school district held its annual Students vs. Staff Basketball Game on Thursday.

CINNAMINSON, NJ – Cinnaminson Township School District students beat staff in a basketball game 58 to 50, but the high school’s Distributive Education Clubs of America also won something as part of the game, one of the game’s organizers said.
Distributive Education Clubs of America, or DECA, “is a career and technical student organization … for grades 9 through 12 that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management,” Roger Roslowski, the group’s faculty advisor and the district’s business and marketing education teacher, said in an interview.
Proceeds from ticket sales to the annual basketball game between staff and students go directly to DECA, he said.

The basketball game provides multiple benefits, according to Sean Kennedy, the Cinnaminson High School DECA Chapter’s Vice President of Marketing and another event organizer.
“It brings the whole school together and helps boost [students’] spirit,” he told Patch.

There were about 500 paid admissions for Thursday’s game, according to Roslowski.
That money will help provide “study materials, materials to prepare [DECA members] for their competitions, as well as travel to the various places the events are held at,” Roslowski said.
This past DECA season, 13 Cinnaminson students qualified for the state competition and of those, one made it to the semi-finals in her category, he continued.
“We are proud of the successes our members achieved from their hard work,” Roslowski said.
