Cinnaminson Wrestling Team Nabs No. 3 Seed In Playoffs

The Pirates open the tournament at home against West Deptford Monday night.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The Cinnaminson High School wrestling team may be headed to a showdown with its rival for a high school wrestling championship, but it seems to be a long shot.

Cinnaminson is the No. 3 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 tournament, according to nj.com. The Pirates will host No. 6 West Deptford in the first round on Monday night, Feb. 5. The winner faces the winner of the match between No. 2 Haddonfield and No. 7 Sterling in the semifinals on Feb. 7.

Cinnaminson’s rival Delran is the No.4 seed and is placed on the other side of the bracket. Delran will host No. 5 Oakcrest in the first round on Monday night, Feb. 5. The winner faces the winner of the match between No. 1 Point Pleasant Boro and No. 8 Barnegat in the semifinals on Feb. 7.

The championship match is scheduled for Feb. 9.

Cinnaminson is 14-5 this season, including a three-point win over Delran on Wednesday night. West Deptford is 14-12. Cinnaminson’s likely semifinal opponent Haddonfield is 18-3 this season.

Delran is 15-9 this season. Oakcrest is 17-5. Delran’s likely semifinal opponent Point Pleasant Boro is 17-1 this season.
