CINNAMINSON, NJ — Here's a look at some upcoming events at the Cinnaminson Library for the week of Dec. 2-7, 2019. Each event's description comes from the library's website. Click the name of each event for more information.

Monday, Dec. 2
Free Health Screenings, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: On the first Monday of each month, a registered nurse from Lourdes Health System will be in the meeting room to provide FREE health screenings and dispense health and wellness information. Walk-ins welcome!

Medicare Seminar, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Hello Community! Are you thinking about retirement? If you or anyone you know are preparing for retirement please join us for our Medicare seminar. This informational session is a must for anyone entering retirement age. Open enrollment for 2020 is upon us, and we want you to be prepared and informed on all the ins and outs of Medicare and Medicare Supplement.

Cursive Class, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Have you ever wanted to sign your name in a fancy script? Read older documents (like the Declaration of Independence)? Write messages to your friends that other people can't read? It's time to learn cursive writing! Come in and learn cursive lettering and practice in fun ways at the library with Miss Kristie. Best for ages 7 and up. This month we will be creating holiday cards!

The Book Cafe, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Gather with other book lovers to discuss your favorite books! In our October meeting, we’ll be having a book café. Let’s talk about what you have read recently. Get ideas about what you might to read next. Please bring along a book you’ve enjoyed. New members are always welcome.

Tuesday, Dec. 3
Tai Chi, 10:30 a.m. to noon: This is a beginner’s course in Qigong and Tai Chi, slow, gentle forms of exercise that help increase energy, flexibility, balance and body awareness. Those who suffer from bad posture, stiff joints, tension and instability should find the course especially helpful. No special equipment or attire required other than loose-fitting clothing and soft, flat-bottom shoes. This program is for adults only.

Coping With The Holidays, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Holidays can be a very painful time for many people, especially those who are suffering the loss of a loved one. It’s hard to know how to prepare for the season while in the midst of the grieving process. This seminar offers practical tips on coping with the end-of-year season that can help you or someone you know cope, discover meaningful ways to honor the loved one, and find comfort.

Wednesday, Dec. 4
Baby and Toddler Time, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: It’s time to shake, rattle, and roll! Babies and toddlers are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and dance along at Baby and Toddler Time.

Scrabble Club, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Do you love a good game of Scrabble? Look no further. You have found kindred spirits. Players of all levels and all ages are welcome to drop in.

Creative Writing Workshop, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Welcome to a workshop where writers write. Through writing exercises, games, timed writing, and discussions with peers, we can find joy and satisfaction in creative writing. Bring your laptops. This program is for adults.

Thursday, Dec. 5
Wrap It Up!, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Adult crafters are invited to pop into the library on December 5th from 2pm to 4pm to add some pizzazz to their holiday gift giving. Create one-of-a-kind gift tags, toppers, and greeting cards to take home and adorn your wrapped packages. Registration is not required! All supplies provided by the library, just bring your imaginations!

New Power Poetry, 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.: New Power Poetry is a group where poets and spoken word artists can gather together and encourage one another with constructive criticism and different perspectives. This set up is similar to an open mic, where our guests are able to come up and share if they like, or just listen and write if they prefer. We want to give poets, songwriters, storytellers and other writers an opportunity to shape their written work and practice their performance skills with plenty of support and encouragement. If you are looking for a community in which you can grow as an artist and a person, please don’t hesitate to join us!

Friday, Dec. 6
Creative Writing Club, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Ready to tell your story? Kids ages 8 to 17 are invited to join us for a new program full of fun writing exercises and challenges. This morning session is open to all, but designed to welcome home schooling and unschooling families. Registration is not required.

Saturday, Dec. 7
Talk Up a Storm: ESL Conversation Group, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Want to practice your English with other non-native speakers? Want to improve your vocabulary, grammar and speech in a safe and supportive environment? Join ESL facilitator, Kathy Orey, twice a month for conversation practice covering topics such as food, shopping, health, customs, holidays, and fun things to do. Important to know: Kathy Orey is the facilitator and will lead the group in activities.
