Criminal, Traffic Court Filings in Cinnaminson Increased in 2015

Total court filings increased by 30 percent.

Cinnaminson, NJ -- Total criminal court filings in Cinnaminson increased by 57 percent between 2014 and 2015, according to a report released by the New Jersey State Department of Justice.

Crimes worthy of an indictment fell by 11 percent, from 168 over the final six months of 2014 to 150 for the same period in 2015.

However, a category labeled “other criminal” rose 188 percent, from 198 to 571. The state describes this as a ”catch-all” category, that mainly consists of municipal and county ordinance violations, weights and measures offenses, fish and game violations, and penalty enforcement actions such as non-payment of fines or failure to appear.

That brought the total number of criminal incidents, including disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons incidents, to 1,138, compared to 727 over the same period last year.

When traffic offenses are factored in, total court filings increased by 30 percent.

DWI incidents increased by 39 percent (50, up from 36), while moving violations increased by 20 percent (2,385, up from 1,983) and parking violations were up 29 percent (198, up from 153).
