CINNAMINSON, NJ — A person's death on elementary school grounds was not suspicious, according to Cinnaminson police.

Officers responded to Eleanor Rush Intermediate School at 6:25 a.m. Friday after a staff member reported a medical emergency. Authorities determined that an unidentified male, who was found unresponsive, had died on school grounds.

The decedent was not affiliated with the school, and there was no danger to students, staff or local residents, officials said. His cause of death was not disclosed, but police determined there was nothing suspicious about the incident.

A barrier was placed to prevent students from viewing the investigative area. Cinnaminson's superintendent commended police and school staff who helped minimize any disruption to school operations.

No adjustments to the school day were necessary, Superintendent Dr. Stephen M. Cappello said in a letter to families and staff. Additional counselors were available for Eleanor Rush students and employees.
