Diane Allen Honored At State Of The County Event In Cinnaminson

Diane Allen previously announced she was retiring at the end of the year.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Retiring State Sen. Diane Allen (R-7) was recently honored by the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce for her efforts over the past 20 years to promote economic development and advocate for small businesses countywide. She was recognized during the State of the County Event on Sept. 25 at The Merion in Cinnaminson.

Allen specifically noted legislation she pioneered 17 years ago that authorized a $5 million economic development grant for the county to provide loans to companies who are on the verge of closing up shop or relocating their business.

The grant came into play last year, when McCollister’s Transportation Group was able to get a loan to remain open through the program, Allen said. McAllister’s was able to continue operating in Burlington Township as it had for the past 72 years.

“I strongly believe that we have to do everything we can to keep and attract business owners to New Jersey. They are the heart and soul of our economy and they deserve our support,” Allen said. “The loan program I created 17 years ago has kept dozens of businesses open in Burlington County, saving more than 1,200 jobs.

“I was also proud to sponsor the law that brought the River Line to South Jersey. This was truly a boon to our local economy. The River Line has generated more than a billion dollars in private investment and it continues to have a positive impact on our towns to this day.

“None of these achievements would be possible without the support of the BCRCC. I am humbled by their recognition of my efforts, and I promise that I will continue to work to empower small businesses in our community and across the state.”
