Elderly South Jersey Couple Killed In Pa. Turnpike Crash

The couple was killed in the accident Tuesday afternoon. Another couple was hospitalized.

A Burlington County couple was killed and another couple was injured in an accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Tuesday afternoon, state police said on Wednesday.

Gyula Molnar, 81, and Ileana Molnar, 71, both of the Roebling section of Florence Township, were killed after a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer they were passengers in crashed while traveling south on the turnpike at about 3:20 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police. They were pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver, 80-year-old Laszlo Bence, and his wife, 80-year-old Olga Bence, both of Shamong, were hospitalized at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, police said.

Bence lost control of the SUV near Milepost 106.1 near Bear Creek Township, police said. The front of the Trailblazer hit the center concrete barrier, went across the southbound lanes and hit a guardrail and rock fence, police said. It then rolled over and landed on its roof.

The accident remains under investigation.
