Elections 2016: What Does the Primary Day Ballot Look Like in Cinnaminson?

Who's on the ballot, and where can residents go to vote on Tuesday?

Cinnaminson, NJ -- The battle between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders isn’t the only Democratic Primary battle set for Tuesday.

A pair of Democrats are engaged in a rare inter-county battle for the Democratic nomination for the Third Congressional District seat.

The Burlington County Democratic Party has endorsed Frederick LaVergne for the seat, while the Ocean County Democratic Party has endorsed former Asbury Park City Councilman Jim Keady. LaVergne ran for the seat as an independent candidate in 2014.

The Third District covers 36 Burlington County municipalities and 16 municipalities in Ocean County.

There are also three Democrats running for the party’s nomination for the open Board of Chosen Freeholders seat, as Reva Foster, Margaret Schwelkert and Michael Miller all pursue the nomination.

Republican Tiver Latham is running unopposed in the Republican Primary.

Sander Friedman and Jeffrey Epstein are pursuing the Democratic Party’s nomination for County Surrogate. Republican Mary Ann O'Brien is running unopposed in the Republican Primary.

Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield will run for re-election, unopposed in the Republican Primary. James Kostoplis is running for the Democrats’ nomination, also without opposition.

Locally, Cinnaminson residents basically already know who their next committeeman is going to be.

Howard “Bud” Evans is pursuing the Republican nomination for the open committee seat, unopposed. Cinnaminson Committee Member Kathleen Fitzpatrick chose not to run for re-election, and no Democrats filed petitions to seek the nomination, for the sixth consecutive year.

Tuesday is also the final day for prospective candidates to file third party petitions.

New Jersey’ primary elections are closed, meaning voters must be a member of a party to vote in that party’s primary.

There is also same-day registration, which enables an independent voter to register as a member of a particular party so they can vote in that primary. Voters can then revert back to their previous affiliation at a later time.
