DELRAN, NJ — A fire that destroyed a small coffee shop in Burlington County has left a gaping hole in the hearts of those who loved Delran Coffee Shop.

The blaze broke out at about 1 a.m. Saturday in the cozy establishment. Heavy smoke emanated from all four sides of the building on Creek and Bridgeboro Roads, generating a response from fire agencies in Delran and neighboring towns.

The first-arriving engine company forced open a door and knocked down the bulk of the fire, while other crews opened up walls and interior spaces to search for extension and hot spots, said the Delran Fire Department.

But Eusofrina Carlos, who runs Delran Coffee Shop, hopes that won't be the last of the restaurant.

"I hope we will be able to rebuild it," Carlos wrote on the shop's Facebook page. "Sadness occupied the part of my heart now. The Coffee shop that I fought so hard to give my Customers the best homemade, fresh and healthy foods was gone in just a blink of an eye."

Delran Coffee Shop also thanked the firefighters who responded to the blaze, including personnel from Delran, Riverside and Willingboro.
