Former Fort Dix Corrections Officer Sentenced For Taking Bribes

A former correctional officer was sentenced to more than two years in prison for accepting bribes and smuggling contraband into the prison.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — A former federal correctional officer was sentenced to more than two years in prison after pleading guilty to accepting bribes in return for getting items for inmates, officials said.

Paul Anton Wright, 36, of Cinnaminson is a former employee at Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in Burlington County. He worked there from 2014-2018, according to a news release from Matthew Reilly, the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

In 2015, officials said, Wright accepted cash bribes in exchange for smuggling tobacco, synthetic marijuana, and Suboxone into the prison. He drove to Philadelphia and New York City to meet with people to pick up items for the inmates, the news release from Reilly's office said.

Wright accepted about $50,000 in cash bribes to deliver the items to the inmates, Reilly's office said.
