Fort Dix Inmate Admits Leading Child Porn Ring In Prison: USAO

He was accused of providing child pornography to seven other inmates at the prison who were all already incarcerated on similar charges.

An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix has admitted to possessing videos of child sexual abuse while imprisoned on other similar charges, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Anthony C. Jeffries, 32, of Orange, Virginia, pleaded guilty to an information charging him with one count of possession of child pornography.

He and four other men from five different states were charged in connection with a child pornography network within the prison in April of last year. Three more inmates were charged in February. Jeffries was the alleged leader of the ring.

Jeffries admitted that he possessed a micro SD Card containing 40 videos of children being sexually abused, including videos of sadistic and masochistic sexual conduct involving infants and toddlers, according to documents filed in the case and statements made in court.

Jeffries and the seven other inmates used contraband cell phones, micro SD cards, and access to the internet to obtain, view, and distribute child pornography within the prison, authorities said. Jeffries maintained cloud accounts used to obtain and store the images.

Jeffries was already serving a 14-year sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography in Virginia. He was scheduled to be released on Aug. 13, 2022.

He now faces a mandatory minimum term of 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release following his most recent plea. Sentencing is scheduled for July 10,

Erik M. Smith, 36, of Iron Mountain, Michigan, has already pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. His sentencing is scheduled for May 7.

Charges remain pending against:

  • Brian J. McKay, 47, of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania;
  • Christopher D. Roffler, 30, of Virginia Beach, Virginia;
  • Jordan T. Allen, 31, of Plain City, Ohio;
  • Jacob S. Good, 26, of Fredericksburg, Virginia;
  • William H. Noble, 52, of Lowell, Massachusetts; and
  • Charles Wesley Bush, 38, of Knoxville, Tennessee.

All those accused as part of this network were already serving sentences for prior child pornography offenses while committing the alleged crimes in this case. The pending charges and allegations are merely accusations, and these defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
