Gloucester Township Mother, Son Shot to Death in Separate Incidents on Wednesday

An investigation is being conducted to see if the shootings are related. Denise Wychowanec was shot by her husband while hospitalized.

The son of a woman who was shot and killed at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford Wednesday morning has been identified as the second victim, found dead at their Glendora home, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo, Stratford Police Chief Ronald Morello and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle said Wednesday evening.

Detectives are analyzing evidence, including ballistics evidence, to confirm the two shootings are related.

Denise Wychowanec, 62, of Gloucester Township, was a patient at Kennedy Hospital when her husband, 63-year-old Raymond Wychowanec, came to visit her at 9:25 a.m. He allegedly proceeded to shoot her multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

She was pronounced dead a short time later. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. He was in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Following the shooting, Stratford Police contacted Gloucester Township Police and requested they conduct a wellness visit of the couple’s home on the 800 block of Price Avenue in Glendora. While there, Gloucester Township Police discovered Ryan Wychowanec, 35, fatally shot.
