Infant, 2 Adults Killed In Fiery Crash In Burlington Co.: Police

Two trucks collided, causing one of them to catch fire and killing all people inside, authorities said.

WESTAMPTON, NJ — An infant and two adults died in a fiery crash involving two trucks early Saturday on the New Jersey Turnpike in Westampton, according to State Police.

The collision happened at 2:17 a.m. in the southbound lanes, said State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.

Albert Speaks, 49, of Plainfield, was driving with a woman and an infant when his Freightliner tractor semi-trailer rear-ended a Volvo tractor semi-trailer in the right lane, Lebron said. As a result, the Freightliner became fully engulfed and the Volvo ran off the roadway to the right.

Speaks and both of his passengers died. Police identified the deceased passengers as Kuirsten Simmons, 33, of Orange, and a 5-month-old infant.

The Volvo driver sustained minor injuries.
