Inmate Escaped Burlington County Jail Through Broken Door: Report

An inmate who escaped from the Burlington County Jail over the weekend escaped through an open intake door that is broken, the Burlington County Times reports.

Michael Mimms, 27, of Willingboro, escaped through the broken door on Saturday. Following a two-day chase, he surrendered on Sunday, according to the report. He claimed on Monday that he feared for his life.

Officials told the newspaper that the broken door is a known issue, but it’s still too early to determine how Mimms escaped. He was in the custody of Willingboro Police at the time of the escape, according to the report.
