Jewish Deli Caterer Closes Permanently In Burlington County
The business continued the legacy of the Short Hills Restaurant & Deli, which shuttered in 2021.
MARLTON, NJ — It's been less than two years since South Jersey's Short Hills Deli closed after 25 years in business. But the Marlton eatery and catering service that launched in its aftermath has also permanently shuttered.
Short Hills 2 Go Catering closed because of "unforeseen circumstances," the business announced Thursday in a brief social-media post.
The Short Hills Restaurant & Delicatessen in Cherry Hill permanently closed in November 2021 because of the pandemic's financial impact. Michael Kaplan — son of Short Hills Deli owner Jerry Kaplan — launched Short Hills 2 Go Catering last August.

Short Hills 2 Go's smaller 20-seat dining area and regular customer base aided the business in the early going, the Jewish Exponent reported in December.
“We were just doing takeout only for almost three years (in Cherry Hill),” Kaplan told the Jewish Exponent. “We were doing substantial business, but at that location, expenses are way too high.”
