Kim Nominates Delran Student To Attend U.S. Naval Academy

A Delran student is one of nine from Burlington and Ocean counties who have been accepted to military service academies.

DELRAN, NJ — A Delran student is one of nine from Burlington and Ocean counties who have been accepted to military service academies, Rep. Andy Kim (D-3) said this week. Christopher Pappas was nominated by Kim, and will attend the U.S. Naval Academy as part of the 2024 class, Kim said.

“Our military service academies provide the training and education for the leaders of the future, and I’m proud to have so many from our community accepted for attendance,” Kim said. “On behalf of our community, I want to congratulate them for this incredible achievement and for their dedication of service. They truly are an inspiration to us all.”

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
