Legal Weed In Cinnaminson: The State Of Cannabis In The Township
NJ is approaching the 1-year mark for dispensaries legally selling recreational weed. Here's what Cinnaminson residents should know.
CINNAMINSON, NJ — This time of year represents a special stretch for New Jersey's cannabis enthusiasts. Thursday marks 4/20, the unofficial stoner "holiday," while Friday is the one-year anniversary of the state allowing dispensaries to sell recreational weed.
While many New Jersey municipalities opted against allowing weed businesses within their premises, Cinnaminson chose differently. The Township Committee voted unanimously in June 2021 to allow weed establishments within certain sections of town.

What about cannabis businesses in Cinnaminson?
Cinnaminson's 2021 ordinance — available on the township's online homepage — allows several different types of cannabis establishments the chance to do business in town.
"In general, cultivation and warehousing are permitted in identified zones within the township, predominantly in the light commercial/industrial area," Township Administrator Eric Schubiger explained. "Retail is only permitted as part of an approved cultivation or warehousing business."
Officials have been in discussions with more than two-dozen interested parties and continue to receive applications, according to Schubiger. The Planning Board granted site-plan approval to five applications in the permitted zone, while Schubiger anticipates a few more may receive conditional approval in the next round or get permitted to transfer previously authorized licenses into Cinnaminson.
However, Twisted Joint — an on-again, off-again applicant to open a dispensary in town — ultimately withdrew their land-use application to the Zoning Board, Schubiger says.
