Local Resident Determined to Bring Balance & New Perspectives
Lisa Killion-Smith, a long time Cinnaminson resident is running as the sole Democrat in the Township Committee election this Nov. 5th, 2019

Lisa Killion-Smith, a long time Cinnaminson resident and the Executive Director for Resources for Independent Living, is running as the sole Democrat in the Cinnaminson Township Committee election this November 5, 2019. Upon winning her seat, Lisa would be the first Democrat on the Township Committee in over 20 years
“It’s my hope to bring differing and fresh perspectives to decisions which really do impact the life of every Cinnaminson resident”. Lisa believes that her background as an Executive Director of a multi-million dollar non-profit for the past 15 years will allow her to assist the Committee to develop streamlined, conservative budgets and to be a good steward of residents’ tax dollars. She also has many years of experience as a grant writer, which can help Cinnaminson receive additional funds above and beyond tax dollars. Lisa further indicated “There are thousands of federal, state and foundations who WANT to provide assistance to communities. It is the Committee‘s responsibility to find it and to win it.
No Democrat has sat on the Cinnaminson Township Committee for over 20 years. Lisa believes that this has led to a “closed door, rubber stamp” process. Any decision is better when you hear new and sometimes different views. Lisa states, “Besides budgeting, I have particular interest in bringing more transparency to Committee activity. Closed door meetings should be few and far between-after all, this is the resident’s township and they deserve to know not only the decision but the reasoning behind it. Decisions have been made for the people without input from the people”. Lisa also has special concerns about thoughtful development of the township and the accessibility of public works.
