Lost Dog Rescued After Falling Down Storm Drain In Cinnaminson
The Cinnaminson police and fire departments and the Sewage Authority teamed up to help rescue a lost dog who fell down a storm drain.
CINNAMINSON, NJ — A Cinnaminson police officer spent nearly four hours in a storm drain while rescuing a lost dog over the weekend, according to the police department.
Officer Richard Deiss’ efforts paid off, as Cinnaminson police and fire and the Sewage Authority teamed up to rescue the dog on Saturday night.
Cinnaminson police responded to the area of Hastings Place for a report of blind and deaf dog who may have fallen into a storm drain Saturday night, police said.

The dog’s family members joined police officers in fanning out across the neighborhood. They subsequently heard noises from the dog coming from a storm drain.
Police then called the Cinnaminson Fire Department and the Cinnaminson Sewage Authority in to help rescue the dog. The dog was injured and found about 50 feet laterally into a 400-foot drain, police said.

Deiss volunteered to go into the storm drain. He spent the next four hours trying to rescue the dog, who was eventually rescued and returned to the owner.
