Man Slit Wife's Throat While Driving On Rt. 130: Prosecutor

Delran, NJ -- A Somerdale man has been arrested after he allegedly slit his wife’s throat, killing her as she was driving on Route 130 just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, Delran Township Police Chief Al Parente and Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi said.

Quentin S. Fortune, 37, has been charged with first degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a weapon in the murder of 54-year-old Cynthia Fortune.

Police discovered Cynthia Fortune lying on the ground next to a Chevy Cruze with visible lacerations on the neck area while responding to reports of an accident. She was taken to Lourdes Medical Facility in Willingboro, where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Quentin Fortune, ran from the car after the accident. He was arrested at the Route 130 Diner a short time later, wearing just a t-shirt, boxers and sneakers, and covered in blood. He had no visible lacerations, police said.

He was remanded to the Burlington County Jail on $300,000 full cash bail, pending his first court appearance.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

Police believe that there were additional witnesses who were at the initial crash scene of Route 130 who had contact with the suspect, and are asking those individuals to contact Burlington County Central Communications at 609-265-7113 or Delran Township Police on their Tip Line at 856-461-9010.
