Man Who Paid $1,600 For Uber Ride Blasted For Seeking Public Help
Kenneth Bachman launched a GoFundMe to help raise money after he passed out and paid $1,600 for an Uber. The public has not been kind.

A South Jersey man who passed out in an Uber and ended up paying $1,600 for a ride from Morgantown, West Virginia, to his home in Gloucester County, New Jersey, is asking for the public’s help in paying for the ride.
But the public doesn’t seem too accommodating.
Kenneth Bachman launched the “Help Out Kenny Bachman” GoFundMe page on March 1, but no one seems interested in helping him out so far. In four days, he’s raised just $175. But not only is he not getting help, he’s being openly criticized for seeking help from the public. Perhaps it's his one line explanation, "Blacked out in an Uber and woke up to a $1,600 dent in my pocket."

He was referring to the night he was at a party in Morgantown, West Virginia, when he decided to call an Uber for a ride back. He was looking to go back to where he was staying in West Virginia, but accidentally asked the Uber driver to take him home, to Sewell, New Jersey. He passed out in the car and was unable to correct his mistake. The ride cost him $1,645.93, and now he’s looking for help paying it.
“People are reaching out via Go Fund Me to get help with real life struggles (cancer, homes burned down, bad car crashes, etc.) and you have the nerve to request money for your drunken Uber ride,” one commenter wrote. “This is so sad. People please, if you were contemplating donating to this, find another worthy cause and put the money there. Good luck in life Kenny, but this is not how the world works (at least I hope it doesn't anyways).”

"I had to see this page just to believe it. We all make bad decisions, and then we have to pay for them," read one comment. "Yours was totally avoidable and 100% your fault. You made a childish move, and now it's time to be a grownup and pay your bill."
“Good luck in life maybe you should consider giving up drinking since you blacked out,” another commenter wrote.
“Gofundme needs to close/shut this down,” another suggested. “Everyone file a report.”
Some were more supportive of his efforts to recover money, however. One praised him for not driving following a night of drinking.
“I'm going to donate Friday as this is going viral and he did the right thing by not getting behind the wheel,” one poster wrote.
He's received 10 donations, mostly $5, but one of $50. Others who commented on the page were just plain amused.
“Eh having a good chuckle. So here is 5 dollars,” one person wrote.
“Just commenting to be a part of history,” another joked. “Hi future grandkids!”
This wasn’t Bachman’s first choice in the matter. He did contest the bill to no avail, and ended up paying the charges. He also claims the driver used his cell phone while he was passed out. It was also reported that the driver skipped tolls along the way, and asked Bachman to reimburse him for the coming fines, which he did.
Bachman is asking for just the amount of money to pay the fare, no more, no less.
