Community Honors National Champions From Marlton

The Burlington County Commissioners declared Sunday Marlton Chiefs Day in recognition of the baseball team's achievement.

EVESHAM, NJ — Sunday was Marlton Chiefs Day in recognition of the 10U team winning the Cal Ripken World Series earlier this month, a Burlington County Commissioner said.

The team was also honored with a parade and a proclamation that the Burlington County Commissioners wrote for them.

"The Marlton Chiefs accomplished an incredible feat and our Board wanted to help honor them," Burlington County Commissioner Dan O’Connell told Patch. "This team has demonstrated extraordinary character and determination and conducted themselves in a way we can all be proud
about."

He added, "our entire Board wants to congratulate them on their championship and wish them the best in all their future challenges."

Many players hung their championship medals around their necks during Sunday's events. In addition, the plaque that will forever noting the team's national championship was held high for all to see.

The Marlton Chiefs had qualified for the Cal Ripken World Series by winning the Mid Atlantic Regional Title earlier this summer, Burlington County said.

The team went undefeated during the series, then used a walk-off hit in the final inning on Aug. 13 to beat Julington, Florida 4-3 and win the national title, Burlington County added.
