MEDFORD, NJ — The new Pinelands Library held its grand opening on Wednesday in Medford.

“Pinelands is a special part of our Burlington County Library System, and we are proud to see the tradition continue in this beautiful new facility,” Ranjna Das, the library system’s director, said in a press release. “It’s a fantastic space.”

Burlington County was the first county in New Jersey to establish a county library, the press release said. The Pinelands Library’s new location on the first floor of the new Medford Town Hall opened approximately 50 years after the original branch at the corner of Allen Avenue and Main Street opened, according to the press release.

Many of the old library’s amenities were carried over to the new site, such as a children’s area and aquarium. The new location also has a tech center, study room, event space and a display showing some of the best-selling books during the last half-century.

The “new Pinelands Library has an outstanding staff, a diverse collection of materials and many of the modern amenities our residents want in a community library,” Tom Pullion, Burlington County Commissioner, said in the press release.
