Memorial Day Event Coming To Cinnaminson
The township will hold its annual Memorial Day commemoration on Friday.
CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson Township will host its annual Memorial Day service this Friday at 5 p.m. at Township Hall, the municipality said.
Several township committee members will speak, local residents will sing and play music and a wreath will be laid at the monument in front of the hall.
The origins of what is now Memorial Day can be traced back to the end of the Civil War, according to history.com. Back then, the annual event that pays tribute to America's soldiers was known as Decoration Day, the website says.

The commemoration at the end of May became a federal holiday in 1971, history.com says.
Cinnaminson's Memorial Day festivities are one of the thousands — be it a parade, family gathering, cemetery visit or similar event — that are expected around the United States this coming weekend.
