Milanese Brothers Bring Discount Beauty Supplies to Cinnaminson

Two of the Milanese brothers are turning their attention to beauty products.

Kevin and Michael Milanese, longtime co-owners of Milanese Pizza in Delran and Riverton with their brother Al, recently opened Shop Smart Beauty in the Pep Boys Shopping Plaza at 202 North Route 130 in Cinnaminson. They are located next to the Pretzel Mart.

Shop Smart Beauty offers brand name beauty supplies, men’s care supplies and household cleaning supplies for 30-70 percent less than what other major retailers sell for, according to Kevin Milanese.

It all began in 2007-08 when Michael Milanese began selling beauty products at flea markets.

“The business just grew and grew,” Kevin Milanese said.

Michael Milanese opened a permanent location in a flea market in Newcastle, Delaware before the brothers, who grew up in Cinnaminson and graduated from Cinnaminson High School, decided to come home.

Michael Milanese, 55, graduated in 1976, and Kevin, 52, graduated in 1981. They and their brother Steve were wrestling champions in high school.

Kevin Milanese is also a world-renowned Elvis Impersonator, who has performed over 300 shows and performed at Bill Clinton’s Presidential Inauguration in 1993. He met his wife while performing in Memphis and the two now live in Canada with their 17-year-old son. He owned a pub in Toronto for 10 years.

Kevin Milanese lives at home three days a week and comes to Cinnaminson to work on the store four days a week. He handles the promotion of the store and is currently in charge of hiring staff to run its day-to-day operations. Michael Milanese handles the purchase of supplies.

Shop Smart Beauty is currently celebrating a month-long grand opening. It is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
